It's Friday!!!

I love hearing Michael bounce, sing, laugh, cry, and talk in his crib. I don't love it when Preston who is next door can hear the same thing and wakes up (yes I have a fan going). Everyday I hear Michael yelling from his crib when he wakes up, "Mommy, where are you?" Followed by me yelling back from wherever I am in the house, "Michael I'm right here." Then he says, "oh, you're right there?" It's soooooo funny every single time.

I love being Young Women's President. I don't love the sleepless nights and the worrying about my girls that comes with it. It's been a long couple of days.

I love baking (cinnamon rolls are in the oven as we speak), cooking, eating. I don't love cleaning up, doing dishes, and trying to figure out how to lose weight (exercising would help, oh, and not baking said cinnamon rolls).

I love it when my girlfriend from across the country calls to talk on her way home for work so that I can help pass the time while she waits in traffic. I don't love it that she is still having to worry about the dating scene. Give him a chance girl!

Welcome to My World, Winter Addition

Hi, this is me, the mom of the house. The one who never leaves the house, thanks to carpal tunnel surgeries, winter, and having two little boys (okay, I take that back, I leave the house about three times a week. Once for mutual on Wednesday, once for church, and once to go grocery shopping). Please submit me for a makeover on Oprah. I could use a trip to Chicago right about now. There is a reason this picture is in black and white!!!

Thank goodness for friends and cousins. Michael LOVES playing with Beckham. They are good for each other. They are both rough and tough. Beckham doesn't let Michael pull any punches without throwing some back. The boys played outside for hours yesterday and since they were so dirty I decided to give them their tacos outside. They thought it would be more fun to throw the food on the table.
These two got so dirty from playing outside (I hate pea gravel), that I had to give them a bath.

Preston loves graham crackers. He ate two in one sitting! In this picture he's watching Michael and Beckham fight over their plastic eating utensils.
Dirty bums......I saw this view so many times yesterday from these two boys and every time it cracked me up.
Have I mentioned yet that these two had fun together? Michael was on cloud nine. Whenever someone comes over to play, he's so excited that he can't calm down.
Cousin Baden came to visit for an hour. I'm not sure he appreciated the two 2 year olds messing up his side-walk chalk creations.
Michael insisted on wearing these boots, but they are too big, and kept coming off and he'd get pea gravel stuck inside, so he finally let me put socks and shoes on him.
This is how you know your child goes to the doctor too much. I don't know how he finds this stuff around the house.
I took this thing off yesterday (I had my final surgery last Thursday), and my poor hand/arm is black and blue. Definitely in more pain this time around.
No words to explain how sweet my baby is. He is finally....FINALLY, sleeping through the night after making him cry it out every night for two weeks. Sometimes for 2.5 hours. Hard, but worth it.

Big Red Barn and Flour Tortillas (aka, nothing exciting)

Out of the blue this week, Michael has been telling me about all the animals that live in the big red barn, and on our way to church there is a red barn next to someones house and he said, "there's a cow in the big red barn." I love hearing something new from him, seeing him recognize something that I didn't point out, and wondering, where did he learn that? (Let's be honest, probably PBS Kids)
So for FHE, we took Michael to a nearby farm. This place is one of a kind, let me tell you. It's right on the river next to million dollar homes, and on a busy street. Michael was fascinated by the whole thing, and maybe a little scared when the humongous pigs all came running. When I was in college and told people that I grew up on a farm, everyone assumed that I grew up on an "Old McDonald" type of farm. Not so much. Think....orchards, alfalfa and potatoes, not pigs, goats and cows. The only animals we had were a cat or two to kill the mice.

See that scab in the middle of Michael's forehead? The stinker won't quit picking it at night. Every morning I go to get him, he's picked at it again. I'm afraid it's going to be a permanent fixture on his head if he doesn't let up!!!! It drives me nuts, and he must know it because he won't quit.
I'm trying to get the boys out of the house more. It makes our day go by a little smoother and quicker. However, there's not many places that I dare take them alone, so lately I've been putting them in their car seats, and going to visit Dad at work for a few minutes. Today I went and picked up fresh flour tortillas from Atomic Foods while Kyle waited with the boys in the car (why is it that I feel like I'm going to get shot whenever I go in to that place? Maybe it's because there was an armed robbery there a while back!) The tortillas are so good that I'm willing to risk my life for them.....seriously, you gotta try them. Nothing compares!

I'm not a "curl"

My Mom was over at our house last night and when she saw Michael's hair she exlaimed, "Look at that curl." He had one curl on the top of his head that was sticking up. He promptly responded back with frustration, "I'm a boy, you're a girl!!!" Then he came up to me, and said, "she's a girl."

For those of you that are a little slow.....he thought when she said, "look at that curl" that she was saying, "look at that girl." Maybe you had to be there. It was really funny.

Help!

Michael is still throwing up (I just went in to get him from his nap and he was sleeping on the opposite end of the crib from his throw up...gross, gross, gross). I know he doesn't have the flu anymore, rather his poor little body is just unable to keep food down as a result of having the stomach flu. I have him on some probiotic stuff, but it's obviously not working. In addition to the throwing up, he also has a bad case of diarrhea, so between those two symptoms he's struggling to keep any food down. Problem is, he's feeling better now, so he wants to eat. I took him to the doctor last week and he's not dehydrated, and he is definitely doing better then he was last week, but still!!! Poor guy hasn't left the house in a week......I think we're all ready to get out, but we don't dare. Once again, thank goodness for my large capacity washer, and the wet/dry vac, which I've definitely been using too much of this week. Does anyone know of any medicine I could give him? My doctor and the pharmacist said there's nothing I can give them at this age that would help.

Preston has yet another cold. Did I mention, I hate this time of year?????
