Lybbert Reunion

I was in charge of the 1st Annual Forest and Betty Lybbert reunion in Moses Lake this summer.  It was just the beginning of many things that I would be in charge of.  Let's just say I'm reunion and baby showered out!  Not to say that I didn't enjoy planning and carrying these events out, but I'm just hoping next summer is a little bit more calm.

We had cinnamon rolls and juice for breakfast, a family history tour around Moses Lake to different significant sites, candy stop at Frank's Market, siphon tube and pull-up contests, lunch, swimming in the pond, remote control airplane flying, dinner, homemade root beer, crafts and family videos in the shop.

Triathlon

Well I said I'd do a Triathlon, and I did (clear back on July 3rd). I must say, it was a lot of work, since I was nursing, but I'm so glad I completed my goal.  Now I just need to get in gear and start working out again.  I think I burned myself out with all that training...excuses, excuses!

Here are my boys wishing me luck before the big race.  I was pretty much freaking out right here.  I was about to jump into that freezing cold water.  Don't let that wet suit fool you, it was still FREEZING.  

Can you spot me?  This is right before I was about to get worked in the water.  Legs kicking at me, people fighting to get out with the current (never happened for me).  This was by far the hardest, scariest part.  

This is when we were close to the shore at the beginning, eventually I was far away and scared for my life.  Somehow I swam a 1/2 mile in freezing water.  Some guy almost drowned, but luckily a fellow swimmer saw him go under and grabbed him.  There were NOT enough volunteers in the water or rescue boats for my peace of mind, but that's another story.  I should have trained in the river rather than a swimming pool.  Totally different experience.  

  The bike was my favorite part.  Not easy, but definitely my favorite.  The ride was 12 miles, and it was part road and part trail riding which kept things exciting.  I didn't like being stuck behind people on the single track.  One lady was holding a large group up of us up on the single track.  Right about now, I'm starting to realize I have to run for three miles.  Oh boy.  

This was hard, like really hard, but I knew I was almost done, so that's how I finished.  All three of these events alone, would not be too difficult, but lump them together and it's a whole new ballgame.

Here are some friends that did it as well.  I didn't train with them, but it was fun to know people doing the race and some of the girls and I were pretty close for most of the race (until they smoked me in the running).  


Would I do it again?  Absolutely!

Summer is over in these neck of the woods, which can only mean one thing.  A summer recap on my blog.  Get ready, there will be lots coming your way...

Today has been rough. Preston is teething his molars and is NOT happy or taking any naps.  Both boys have colds, and I had to take Preston in today because I swore he had an ear infection, but sure enough just teething his molars and a bad cold.  Instead we had to do a breathing treatment and a chest x-ray because he was wheezing so bad.

The good news of the day is that I'm doing another makeover, and this time it's for a teen girl.  Will you spread the word for me?  I need your help.  Go HERE for details.  Get your entries in soon, please.

 

Family Pictures

One of these days I'll play catch up on our summer.  For right now, just know that it was busy.  Maybe too busy.  Amidst the craziness we were lucky enough to have our family pictures taken by Mark Owens, who just so happens to be a celebrity/athlete photographer (no, he's not the paparazzi, they hire him to take their pictures), who also happens to be dating my sis-in-law.  Lucky us.  I can't say thank you enough to Mark.  I feel like he captured perfectly my boys personalities.   

**Disclaimer (I only have the web quality files right now, so they aren't as crisp as they should be).  Now here's the hard part, which ones should I order????  Help me!

Flying By

To say this summer has flown by is an understatement.  We have been busy, busy, busy.  With my triathlon, planning our Lybbert Family Reunion, my 10 year class reunion (this weekend), the Mahuika reunion in a couple of weeks (25 people descending on our house in a matter of days..I need to get busy), going to Priest Lake, having company at our house....and that's not even all of it.  I've got lots of great pictures to prove it, but I don't feel like posting them, so for now just enjoy this one.

Oh Summer, How I Love Thee...

Do you let your babies swallow the cherry pits?  We do.  Or should I say, my husband does, so I give in.

Best family picture we've ever taken, seriously.  I'm not wearing makeup (no surprise) we're all wearing our scrubbies, we have cherry juice all over our clothes, it was past the boys bedtime, and they both had sweaty nasty diapers.   However, that's why we had so much fun!  We took a picnic out to the cherry orchard, ate on the grass, got eaten alive, and picked lots of cherries.  Thanks Fielding's for the fun time!  Shortly after this picture was taken we stripped them down and hosed them off and they went home in their diapers. (and no, I'm not referring to the Fielding's)
