Update

Even though I had to be at the OB  for 3 hours today, I'm feeling much better about my current state.  My NST came back fine, and I'm still only dilated to a 2.  I am 50% effaced, but I don't think that means much.  The doctor is confident that I should be able to last a couple more weeks.  Very good news!

No Sleep

Thanks to my extra large state of pregnancy I can't sleep lately, especially tonight.  I think I'm extra anxious because I have an appointment tomorrow.  I have been Googling (never a good thing in the middle of the night) my condition and I can't find anyone who says they measure 6 weeks ahead like I have been.  Most are measuring at the most 4 weeks ahead, and that's usually earlier on and then they taper off.  I'm feeling unprepared.  So much to do, and really have no idea when the baby will come, so I need to get prepared so I can relax my brain.  I've been feeling some slight labor pains the last couple of days.  I'm hoping they are false labor pains.  Nothing consistent, but still enough to make me wonder what's going to happen.  There are still 5 weeks before the baby is supposed to be here.  I also am feeling anxious because I really want my doctor to deliver my baby, but I know the chances of that are so slim since I go to a clinic and he is only on call once a week.  Wish me luck with that!  We love my doctor, and have been lucky to have him deliver Michael and Preston, now to see if we can be just as lucky with #3.

A really funny thing happened to me yesterday.  I took Michael to get his glasses adjusted and one lady who works there is a very large woman.  She says to me, "You look humongous!"  I could have said a lot of things back, but honestly it was so funny to me, I was just trying not to laugh.  I said, "I agree!"  She's right though, I do look humongous.  I need to have Kyle take a picture of me so you can see for yourself.

Things I need to do before baby comes:
Switch Preston into Michael's room so they can get used to sleeping in the same room
Find a name for this baby boy!  Pretty much it comes down to Kyle not liking my names.  Suggestions?
Wash baby clothes
Buy a soft baby blanket
Get a new outfit for the baby (I haven't bought one thing)
Stock up on new baby items
Buy nursing bras since I threw all mine away after Preston.  Anyone have brands they like?
Get my hair cut (doing this tomorrow night, it's been 6 months, gross!)
Take my broken cellphone in to get fixed
Paint furniture in nursery
Find a glider that is comfortable and not outrageously priced
And...a million other things!

Please baby, wait at least 3 full weeks before you come so I can get a few things crossed off this list!

Preston

Before the next baby boy makes his way into our home, I need to update on my boys, so memories will not be forgotten. Preston is still referred to as Preppy in our home.  I'm pretty sure this nickname isn't going anywhere anytime soon.  He has a few other nicknames given to him by his dad and brother, but Preppy is universal with friends and family.
We had Preston's tongue clipped during the summer and after just a few weeks we started noticing a big change in his speech.  He was saying new words, and forming new sounds that he hadn't ever said before.  He still has a long ways to go, but I really feel like he's making some great progress and even saying short sentences.  Believe it or not, he never even said no until the last week in August.  He said many other words before he'd say no, and so when he finally said it we just thought it was so cute.  The cuteness of "no" has now warn off!  He also now says "yes," which we are also excited about.  Another huge improvement is he will try and repeat any word or sound that we say.  Before, he would not, or could not do it.  He has learned to say Michael  as well, but he actually only refers to Michael as "Ow!"  I definitely don't consider that a coincidence.  As a mother, I have been very concerned with having his speech delayed, but I realize every child is different, and some need more time, or even more help. I thought when we got his tongue clipped it would mean that he wouldn't spit food out anymore, but I was wrong.  He loves apples, but he won't swallow them.  He chews and chews and then spits it all out.  It doesn't matter if I peel it either.  He does this with a number of foods, and it is really annoying.  I'm thinking it is something to do with a sensory problem.

Preston loves cheese and asks me for it all day long!  I am trying to wean him off of his sippy cup because the other thing I heard all day long was ba ba ba ba ba.  He loves his sippy cups full of milk too much!  He is ready to be potty trained so I figured this is a great time to get him off of it.  Speaking of potty training, I really need to work with him because he was doing so good a couple of weeks ago, but then I got hugely pregnant, and I didn't feel like it.  If I can get him potty trained before the baby comes, then it will be a miracle, and I will be so happy to not have to buy diapers for two kids again.

Preston loves his stuffed animal dog that he got for Christmas.  He lays in bed and picks the fuzz off of it and stuffs it up his nostrils.  Not sure why he does this, but I think he loves the feeling of the fuzz in his nose, and then he just leaves it in there.  He only does this during naps and bedtime, so hours later I will see brown fuzz up there and have to pull it out.

He is currently trying to cut his two year molars, and I really wish they would hurry up before the baby comes.  Why does teething have to take so long?  Preston copies everything Michael does.  He loves his big brother and wants to be just like him.  For the longest time Preston just put up with everything that Michael did to him, but he has finally had enough and now he doesn't put up with any gruff.  He definitely has a feisty side to him, so watch out!  Preston's terrible two's are still much easier then Michael's though.  I have some friends who's children don't throw temper tantrums.  My children definitely don't fit under the category of mild mannered.  I guess that can only be blamed on myself and Kyle!

Preston is not good during the first hour of church.  AT ALL.  He absolutely loves nursery, and he has the BEST teachers.  We are so lucky that he has such great teachers.  They go above and beyond every week.

One of Preppy's favorite past times is lifting up my layers of clothing and blowing raspberries on my stomach. He would do this for a long time if I let him.  He is actually really good at it, but it leaves my stomach a slobbery mess.

Preston hates it when I drop Michael off at preschool or at a friends house.  He knows that he's missing out on the fun and he cries for a long time afterwards.  Thanks to lots of extra doctor's appointments, Preston is going to have the opportunity to have his own play dates with friends.  He is so happy when I ask him if he wants to go play at a friends house. He actually had his first alone play date last week when I was at the doctor and Michael was at preschool, and he gets to do another one tomorrow.  Lucky him!

We love Preppy so much, and he really is the sweetest boy.  He loves his family and we love him!
This picture doesn't quite do the HUMONGOUS egg on his forehead justice, but maybe if you look at it right you can see that there is a bump that stretches across his forehead.  He ran into the molding around the window when he was playing football with his dad.  It was the biggest and longest egg I've ever seen.  Ouch!

Big Belly

At my 32 week appointment my doctor found out that I had polyhydramnios, which means I have way too much fluid (it often comes later in the pregnancy).  I was measuring 6 weeks ahead, and the baby was measuring 3 weeks ahead (which I don't think is related to the excess fluid, just a big baby).  He told me no more running or exercise, and I followed his instructions.  Well today I had my 34 week appointment and I'm measuring 40 weeks...full term.  He didn't measure the baby today, so not sure where I'm at there.  I could still go full term, or close to it, I just don't want to be measuring 46 weeks by that point!  Since my diagnosis I've had to do numerous non-stress tests, another glucose test, and then a test to see about pre-term labor, all of which have come back normal.  I have to go in weekly now for non-stress tests. The main concern with too much fluid is pre-term labor and also once your water breaks, everything can collapse and come out because of the amount of fluid, and you need to get to the hospital ASAP.

Time to get my rear in gear and get everything ready because as of right now, I've got nothing ready!  I have an ultra-sound in two weeks to measure the baby and my doctor will reassess things from there.  I am so uncomfortable and my stomach is seriously big.  I don't feel like doing anything, which is always a productive way to live life with two young boys.  I'm whiny...partly due to the fact that Kyle has been out of town for work for a few days, and our AC isn't working, so I'm hot!  The good news is, he comes home tomorrow night.

Time to start figuring out what we are going to name this baby!

Visiting Clara

After preschool last Tuesday I decided we better go visit Clara in Spokane that evening. We had a great visit with her and Brian and my boys behaved pretty good.  She was doing an outpatient transfusion, and had been there most of the day, so we are glad we could come distract her for a little while.  The hospital has lots of great toys for kids, and they love to race around in the cars. Clara has her surgery this Thursday (it was postponed due to low blood counts). We have been able to spend a little bit of time with her this weekend before she goes back to Spokane. Michael and Preppy love Clara, as do we all.  Clara has a special spirit about her and we cherish the time we get to spend with her. We wish Clara and her family lots of luck this week as she undergoes such a serious surgery.

Boy's Club Preschool

Boy's Club Preschool is not really the official name of our preschool, but I'm calling it that because it consists of all boys.  It was my turn last week to teach preschool.  There are 6 boys and the moms take turns teaching twice a week.  My mom came and saved me the first day because I knew it would be hectic by myself.  I was solo on Thursday and it went just fine, although the boys definitely came out of their shells on Thursday, so I was pretty exhausted.  Don't you think we've got a cute group of 3 year old boys?

Moses Lake

We went up to Moses Lake a couple of weeks ago to help my Grandparents with fix-it projects around their farm house.  I must say, I was no help because I was corralling children the whole time, and taking pictures. Not much I can do in my current state of being huge.  It was a great day though...minus the high temparatures.  We almost had a major mishap but luckily Michael was being watched out for by a higher power.  There was a heavy shop door that someone had repainted and placed against the shop.  Preston somehow knocked it over and it grazed Michael's head and shoulder and came crashing to the ground and shattered the glass.  He came away with just a little scratch. It scared the daylights out of him though.  It could have been much, much worst.  My grandparents live in a great location, and the famous "Lybbert Pond" is on their property.  I think everyone is Moses Lake has swam in their pond at one time.  Grandma and Grandpa are in their upper 80's and still going strong.  They have a huge garden....I mean huge as in 40 tomato plants and everything else you can imagine.  They still do lots of canning, and my Grandma is a blue ribbon quilter.  I want to be just like them when I'm their age.  No use in slowing down if you still got it!  My Grandma Casper is the same way, she is always developing her talents despite having Parkinson's Disease.

Preston helped Grandpa clean the beets off from the garden.  Not sure how much help he was!
Michael got sunscreen in his eye, so this is him trying to wash it out.  The best part about this is Michael is using a ladle my Grandpa made out of a siphon tube for the water bucket.  You can always count on my Grandma having a bucket or pitcher of water with a chunk of ice that she froze.  Nothing beats it!
I went swimming in the pond and jumped off the rope swing, but my sister has those pictures.  They are probably pretty scary anyways!
